About the event
Every grape in this flight was nearly lost. One is a mountain white named for the sheep that grazed on it. One is a red that Romans drank and later generations abandoned. One is a Spanish grape left on slopes too steep to bother with. The last is a Bordeaux variety that vanished for 150 years before turning up in Chile under a false name.
Four rescues, four stubborn growers, and plenty to be thankful for this month.
